This just pissed me off so much…What a total bonehead.

I have a lot of bees around the newer addition to my porch. I’m trying to figure out what kind they are. They look a lot like bumblebees to the point where I believe they are, but I fear they’re carpenter bees. The two may look very close—carpenters apparently have a “bald spot” on their back—, but the two act differently. Carpenter bees are more aggressive.
The reason I’m paying them more attention now is that I dreamed I was ambushed by them. Yeah, I feel like I’m slightly overreacting, but I don’t know if I’m allergic to bees and I really don’t want to find out the hard way. I know my father is allergic and I don’t want him to get stung because he’s not in the greatest of health anyway.
These are the best photos I could get of them and had to enhance a couple; two front view, two back view of the bees. If they’re bumblebees, I’ll be fine; they’re not aggressive unless you disturb their nest/hive and they’re pollinators.
Anyone know? If so, what do you suggest I do (I really don’t want to call “Pest Control”)?
